For many years the Ojibway and the Dakota tribes have been enemies. One day Chanuka was just floating on the river in his canoe, just relaxing and not paying attention to anything. Neosho was hunting and as Chanuka was floating, Neosho and Chanuka ended up running into each other. After Chanuka went back to his tribe after eleven days the chief didn't ask were he was or punished him for being gone so long. The chief remembered that it was buffalo hunting season and all the tribes went hunting and so the chief sent Chanuka to the Dakotas tribe to see if they had a good hunt. The chief was hoping that they didn't, so they could attack them next spring, but if they didn't they would have to wait for the next spring.
After the Dakota tribe came back from hunting they had a dance called the buffalo dance. Neosho decided to “invite” Chanuka into the dance as the horse. Right before the buffalo dance Neosho noticed that Chanuka had his moccasins on and they were not the same as the Dakota tribe, they were beaded. So Neosho had gave Chanuka a pair of moccasins that matched his tribe. After the dance was done Neosho had gone back to his tribe and told the chief that they had had a good hunt, so that meant that they could not attack them the coming spring. Neosho had hung up the moccasins that Chanuka had gave him for symbolization of their friendship.
What skills and ideas did I learn from doing this project? What did I learn I can do well? What do I need to work on?
I learned that I can draw a picture on the story and have people know what the story is about.
